A boat propellor stirs up the seabed (video 00:36)
In June 2013, we took a day-boat to Sedir Island, also known as Cleopatra Island. After some time exploring the island, the boat readied for the journey back. As it turned in the water, it's propellor churned up the shallow, sandy seabed…
A ferry trip in Istanbul (video 01:54)
This is video of a trip across the Bosphorus from Karaköy in the north-west across the straits to Kadiköy in the south-east. Made mainly with an iPhone 4S, in April 2014.
Istanbul is online
Just as the Turkish government has allowed YouTube again in Turkey, I've uploaded the last of the photos selected from my trip to Istanbul in April. 205 images selected from 519 taken in total.
Forty year-old passport
These are pages from my first passport. It was issued in 1980 when I was 16, but by 1984 I had changed so much that I got a new photo added.
Istanbul photo diary
These are the eleven photos I took for my daily photo journal while on a trip to Istanbul in April 2014.
One of these photos is (not) like the other
I took a photo (Carpet outside) last week. Looking at it, it really reminded me of a photo I took in Egypt in 2005. Something about the mood, the space and the light. So I thought I'd put them together to see what happened.
24 things to do before you turn 30: say hi to a large... turtle?
This video of a large Common Snapping Turtle in Algonquin Provincial Park, Canada, which I shot in 2009, has recently been included in a Buzzfeed video called 24 Things To Do Before You Turn 30.
Photographs from a visit to Istanbul
A set of photographs I took during a brief visit to Istanbul, Turkey, at the end of March.
More objects from Turkey
The first is some little Afghan spice pots I got in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. The second is a handmade, rustic pestle and mortar I bought in the farmers market in Akyaka.
Jug in the form of a sheep
I bought this jug in the form of a sheep a couple of weeks ago in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. It came with six little cups, also carrying the wool motif.
Montana vernacular architecture (AllTrips uses my photograph)
I was contacted by Lisa from AllTrips.com, because they wanted to use my photo of the West Yellowstone Human Services Centre on their website, and I am happy to oblige.
Luxor, Egypt (2004)
In December 2004 I went to Luxor in Egypt with my first digital camera, a 4.0 megapixel Canon Powershot A80. It was before I was serious about photography and I wasn’t that impressed with the results from this camera compared to film.
Eight years later, I’ve had another look through the photos I took then and found much that is interesting. I've uploaded this selection to a set on Flickr.
Castle Hill
Man-made Castle Hill in Brailes, Warwickshire, is a prehistoric burial ground that was used as the mound for a Norman motte-and-bailey castle.
Photographs from Canada
After a nice week visiting lovely friends in Ontario, Canada, I’ve created a new set of some of the photographs I took there.
